Aqua Therapy
Rehabilitation in water, where buoyancy removes the load and movement becomes possible far earlier.
What it is
In chest-deep water you carry a fraction of your body weight, which means you can begin walking, squatting and loading a joint long before that would be tolerable on land. The water also provides gentle resistance in every direction, and warmth that helps guarded muscle relax. It is particularly useful early after surgery, in painful arthritic joints, and for anyone whose symptoms flare the moment they take full weight.
What a session looks like
- 01A land-based assessment first, so the water programme targets the right thing.
- 02Graded walking, range and loading work at a depth chosen for your symptoms.
- 03Progression by reducing depth as tolerance improves. That is the dosage.
- 04A planned transition back to land-based strengthening.
Aqua therapy takes place at a pool and is scheduled separately from clinic appointments. Please ask about availability when you book.
Other treatments
- Manual TherapyPrecise hands-on mobilisation that gives stiff, guarded joints their range back.
- Dry NeedlingFine needles into the trigger point, for deep pain surface work cannot reach.
- NeurodynamicsRestoring glide in nerves that have become sensitised or entrapped.
- Therapeutic TapingKeeps the correction working long after the session ends.
